What you gonna do if your Mac is slow?

In case the Mac appears slow and holds at from time to time, run such fixes to work around the inconvenience:

 RELOAD THE MAC

If a reboot   remedies that problem, and the issue does not reappear, your maintenance work is completed.

 CHECK AND FIX YOUR CATALOGS

LOOK AT THE FILESYSTEM AND FIX ANY ERRORS, BY DOING THENEXT STEPS:

Boot your Mac from the MacOS installation CD

Activate disk Utility and pick ”repair disk” option

In case there is no permission to run the OSX installation Optical Disc, apply the UNIX request ”FSCK” from the Terminal set up for in “single user mode”. The specific way of how to do this differs depending on which version of MacOS you are using. Go to Support in order to receive specific instructions. Disk Utility will do an analysis of existing remedies, and solutions that took place. In case disk Utility  is  not able to fix a issue, then you need to get a third-party utility, or reformat your disk prior to starting any other actions. Sure thing that reformatting your drive must be the last resort, as that action will clear the hard disk. Install a third-party utility first; In case the software makes no good, do a complete backup of information (including loaded programs and personal settings), and then start disk formatting.

CHECK SPACE ON YOUR SYSTEM VOLUME

A user should possess minimum 0.5 GB of unused space at all times. Remember that even in case you have more unrecorded space compared to the amount this when your  first Boot, auxiliary files may reduce drive capacity fast. That is why ,it would be a perfect idea to have minimal amount 3GB of free capacity immediately past Loading.

To solve the issue put to Recycle Bin unnecessary files and applications stored in Main drive to clear free   capacity. In addition, strive to create fewer temporary files by adding more RAM or running less programs simultaneously. Reloading may temporarily get rid of all swap-files, however they will come back.

 MAINTENANCE PERMISSIONS

Run that in drive “utility” in the normal account. Select Boot disk and click on the ”first aid” selection, and after that activate Repair Permissions button. Check if this cures the issue.

 FREE SYSTEM AND USER CACHES

Use some third party program similar to Onyx or Cocktail to thoroughly deep clean every  cache folder, and then reboot. Check if that remedies the issue.

UNPLUG ALL USB OR FIREWIRE GADGETS NOT COUNTING MAC’S MOUSE

Reboot the Mac after turning off every piece of external peripheries. In case this makes the inconvenience fade away, it means that you have a fault additional device, broken cable, or unreliable input on your machine. Try to isolate that one. Pay special attention to Universal ports.

Dashboard Widgets Management

Among of those reasons for problem crippling a Macbook performance may be that there is too many opened Dashboard Widgets. There are very well in downscaling available RAM capacity. That is why you must check that list of already active Widgets and close the ones that are taking too many reserves. The best method to solve the complication is probably to shut them down one by one until your system unfreezes.

Problems with font

One more issue which should be addressed when your Mac freezes is removing unused fonts. The reason is that usual Mac is configured to load every font available whether these are necessary or not. Disable the fonts which are no longer necessary and thus improve the Mac productivity.
